Following a successful winter trade show at ISPO Beijing, China, in February 2016, where dry slope manufacturer MK Enterprises had a 12 square metre stand and met more than 80 potential clients for their Playgrass Ski Carpet and Artificial Ski Slope Design & Services the company say they have now appointed and exchanged trading contracts with Beijing Carving Ski Development Co Ltd, who will now act as their distribution agent in China. Beijing Carving is a well established company in Beijing and has many contacts within the ski industry throughout China – both on real snow slopes and artificial ski facilities.
China is to host the 2022 Winter Olympic Games and they are really gearing up for the event in advance. Both the Chinese government are private enterprises are planning dry ski facilities as part of a massive drive to increase snowsports participation across the country (much of which is in areas where there’s high population density but little opportunity for snow skiing) , that will be both Indoor and Outdoor Facilities, at Sports Academy’s, Collages and Private Development.
In June 2016 Mike Keating, Director of MK Enterprises (UK) Ltd was invited back to Beijing to attend the China Ski Industry Annual Forum / Conference. This was a three day event held to the outskirts of the city and attended by many of the ski resort operators and owners from throughout China, a wide range of talent and ideas were available at the Forum as everyone is very excited about the Winter Games to be held in 2022.
During the Forum Mike had opportunity to talk with many of the operators and had representatives from Beijing Ski Carving to assist with sales and translation throughout the three day event, as pictured above.
“Playgrass Ski Carpet is a very exciting innovated continuous ski carpet that was designed and developed since 2001 and has benefited from improvements in the development since then making it the safest ski carpet within the industry today,” said Mike, who added,
“Playgrass is used in the UK and it has exported to several countries across Europe, there is also a 9000 square metre facility in Israel that has operated for the past several years, the new developers chose Playgrass after skiing on other ski surfaces here in the UK during their investigations and research into the ‘Dry Slope Industry’ of which the UK are World leaders.”
“It should be noted that it is ‘very hot’ in Israel and clients ski in Shorts and Tee Shirts on the Playgrass as they do not hurt themselves when they take a fall, they also have a Free Style section of the facility,” Mike continued, concluding,
“The Chinese ski industry is set to expand and MKE are there at the commencement of this exciting period. It is great to have this exciting contact with China.”
