More details are beginning to emerge about the set up of Ski Egypt, the first indoor snow centre to open in Africa, which welcomed its first skiers last month.
The centre’s operators, Majid Al Futtaim Leisure and Entertainment, who also run the world famous Ski Dubai, have confirmed that the main ski slope at the new facility near the capital Cairo is 200m long, around half the length of the main slope at Ski Dubai.
Instead of slope length there is a greater emphasised on snow fun at Ski Egypt with the snow park at 7,500 square metres twice the size of Ski Dubai’s – and Ski Dubai’s is often reputed to be the largest indoor snow park in the world. Infact 7,500 square metres of snow play is larger than many of the world’s smaller indoor snow centres’ total snow area for their ski slopes.
The opening of Ski Egypt means that there are now indoor snow centres on all six of earth’s populated continents and that, as you can ski in Antarctica, the seventh continent, all year round anyway, it is, for the first time, possible to ski on any continent in the world, on any day of the year.
