SNOW FUN

Proposed 2002

South African company SnowFun Developments (Pty) Ltd aimed to open the world’s largest indoor snow centre in December 2002 in Cape Town.  The website for the project remained operational until 2010, and many of the poorly researched indoor snow centre sites portrayed it as operational.

The  project involved a curling 610 metre slope descending 45 metres and was to also include an Olympic sized ice rink, fully equipped gymnasium, as well as ski shops, restaurants, heated swimming pool and a travel agency.  Snowboarders and freestyle skiers were to benefit from an 800 square metre half pipe.
